Durene has included some pretty pink highlights in each of these designs without being sickly sweet, with marvellous magenta touches and twirly greetings to add a final flourish. Durene has used two strands of thread for the backstitch wording, so it stands out from the fabric and isn’t overpowered by the design. Start a new thread for each letter, as if you trail the thread across the back of your fabric, it will show through to the front of your work, which looks messy.

Durene Jones is a highly respected cross stitch designer, loved for her colourful and versatile design style. She regularly creates projects for The World of Cross Stitching, Cross Stitch Gold and Cross Stitch Crazy, as well as managing her own online Etsy store selling PDFs of her cross stitch patterns. She kindly supported Immediate Media’s Bliss fundraising as part of World Craft Week 2018 by donating monies raised from baby charts sold on her Etsy store during that week to the campaign. In summer 2020, her first signature bookazine, the Durene Jones Cross Stitch Collection was published.
