Take your cross stitch to another level with this beautiful floral cross stitch adorned on pretty bunting.
The super-cute motifs we’ve used in this post are cross stitch charts from issue 196 of Cross Stitch Crazy magazine.
Step 1
Cut round your finished stitching to create a stocking shape, using our Advent Christmas stocking template leaving a 1cm (½in) seam allowance round the outside of the stitched design. The template includes the 1cm (½in) seam allowance).
Step 2
Place your trimmed stitching on top of your backing fabric with wrong sides facing and cut out the same shape. Alternately, you can use your printed template, placing the reverse of the template on the wrong side of the backing fabric.
Step 3
Pin the two sides of your stocking together with right sides facing and the edges lined up, and fold down 1cm (½in) of fabric either side at the top to create a neat top edge. Machine stitch around the sides and the bottom of the stocking using a 1cm (½in) seam allowance, leaving the top open.
Step 4
Trim off any excess seam allowance, being careful not to cut too closely to the seam, then turn through to the right side and press.
Step 5
Cut a piece of bakers twine or ribbon measuring 5cm (2in) and fold in half, then secure the cut ends to the inside of the stocking with a few stitches, creating a loop to hang your stocking from.
Step 6
Repeat with the remaining stockings, then fill with treats and hang around your house!
