Bookmarks are one of our favourite things to stitch! They’re not only pretty but they’re practical. They also make thoughtful gifts.

One lovely cross stitch bookmark pattern is adorned with pretty roses in a beautifully vintage style. The second cross stitch bookmark pattern features cute puppies by Durene Jones. Finally, we’ve got a teacup cross stitch bookmark pattern designed by Rhona Norrie.

Made up of a beautifully patterned mug, which you tuck inside your book, then a matching teabag motif, which hangs outside like the real tag on a fancy teabag, it’ll mark your current chapter in style.

Designed by Rhona Norrie for The World of Cross Stitching issue 263. We got lots more free cross stitch patterns for you to discover too!

What you’ll need for the teacup bookmark project

  • Zweigart* 14-count white aida measuring 15x15cm (6x6in) for the cups and 10x10cm (4x4in) for the teabag tags
  • Stranded cotton as listed in the key
  • Size 24 tapestry needle

Rose cross stitch bookmark

Stitching level: Advanced beginner / Intermediate

The rose cross stitch bookmark is stitched on cream evenweave for a more natural look. To mount your stitching on the card, use acid-free double-sided sticky tape.

Trim the card to have a point at the bottom edge and then we used a hole punch to create a space to hang our tassel.
